Market Watch
The community generally is pleased that Nike is serious in its Metaverse move. If they didn’t, then why would they hire for senior positions? One concern is that Nike seems to be still in its building phase. It could be that they will take some time to release an NFT offering.
Nike’s main rival Adidas is also deeply involved in NFTs. More than $23 million was earned by the brand’s Debut NFT Collection “Into the Metaverse”. They have been delighting NFT holders by offering exclusive perks like the right to redeem tangible merchandise. Adidas also partnered with Prada, an Italian luxury fashion house, to show the infinite possibilities of the Metaverse. “Adidas-for-Prada re-source” will be an interactive platform that allows NFT holders to make large-scale art through play.
NFTs are a good option for the fashion industry as they remove many operational hurdles. It could also mean new customers for millions of brands. The Metaverse offers great opportunities that could propel first-movers to new heights. Nike wants to be a part of this action!
