The British Museum has teamed up with LaCollection, a French NFT platform, to launch 20 NFTs that are based on the works of J.M.W. Turner. This auction follows the successful launch of Katushika Hokusai NFTs by the collaborations, which attracted a crowd from more than 120 countries.
LaCollection will host the private sale of NFTs between February 8th and 9th. The general market sale will take place between February 9th through March 4th. There will be 20 NFTs for sale. 9 will be Ultra Rare (two editions), 7 will be Super Rare (10 editions), and 4. An Open Edition will allow you to sell up to 99 copies in a 24-48 hour period.
The LaCollection project’s cornerstone is to reward its community. Therefore, the sale and purchase of Ultra Rare and Open Edition NFTs will only be available to members of the existing community who purchased one from the Katsushika Hokusai release . This private sale remains open until January 31 st. Anyone who bought a Turner NFT in the sale window will be able to purchase a last Ultra Rare NFT.
The collection contains 20 works from an seldom exhibited set that Robert Wylie Lloyd (ex-director of Christie’s Auction House) left. He stipulated that the collection should only be displayed for two weeks in February, or on special request and should not be lent.
JMW Turner (1775-1851), is known as “the painter of sunlight” because of his fascination with colours and his seascapes. Because of his expressive and messy style, Turner is often referred to as the first modern artist.
